Wedding Photography Packages

There is a moment, usually somewhere between choosing your resort and finalising your guest list, when the question of photography suddenly feels urgent. You have found the venue. You have imagined the light, that warm golden Indian Ocean light that makes Mauritius like nowhere else on earth. Now you need someone to capture it in a way that does it justice.

This guide is here to help you understand what wedding photography packages in Mauritius typically look like, what drives the investment, and how to make sure you are choosing the right way for the day you have been planning.

Why Mauritius Wedding Photography Pricing Works Differently

Destination wedding photography is not the same as booking a local photographer back home. When you are planning a wedding in Mauritius from Europe or South Africa, you are not just hiring someone with a camera. You are bringing a creative partner into one of the most logistically nuanced environments in the world.

Prices can vary significantly here. A short civil ceremony sits at one end of the market. A full destination wedding with calm direction, careful editing, and a complete gallery sits somewhere else entirely. Both have their place. The question is not only “how much does a wedding photographer in Mauritius cost?” It is also “what kind of experience do we want around us on the day?”

A number of factors shape how packages are structured and priced in this market.

Travel and logistics.

Even for photographers based on the island, covering a resort like Le Paradis or Dinarobin Beachcomber requires preparation, permits, and coordination with resort coordinators well in advance of your day.

The nature of destination weddings.

Couples travelling to Mauritius typically have a longer wedding experience: welcome dinners, morning-after shoots on the beach, multi-day celebrations. The best packages reflect this, rather than treating your wedding as a single afternoon.

Experience with the island.

A photographer who knows where the light falls at Pointe aux Piments at 5pm, or how the tide moves along the Morne peninsula at golden hour, brings something no brief can teach. That local knowledge is part of what you are investing in.

What Wedding Photography Packages in Mauritius Typically Include

Most professional wedding photography packages in Mauritius fall into three broad tiers. While every studio structures things slightly differently, here is what you can generally expect at each level.

Short and Half-Day Coverage

Short coverage suits a civil wedding, a beach elopement, or a small ceremony where you want the essentials: arrival, vows, a few family photographs, and portraits afterwards. As a general guide, short elopement and resort ceremony coverage in Mauritius tends to start from around EUR 450 to 900, while half-day packages typically range from EUR 700 to 1,500.

Half-day coverage is often the natural fit for intimate resort weddings in Mauritius. It gives room for preparation, ceremony, family moments, and couple portraits without turning the whole day into photography. This is where many destination weddings begin to feel properly documented. Not too much, not too little.

One caution worth mentioning: if the ceremony starts late or portraits need a little breathing room, a very short package can feel tight quickly. Always leave enough space after the vows. That is often where the photographs begin to soften.

Full-Day Coverage

Full-day coverage is for weddings where the feeling of the day matters beyond the ceremony itself. The quiet before getting dressed. Parents seeing the couple for the first time. Guests arriving. Dinner light. The shift in mood after sunset. These are not always the images couples list at the beginning, but they often become the ones that hold the day together.

At this tier, packages generally range from EUR 1,000 to 2,500 for standard full-day coverage, with more experienced photographers and larger productions sitting between EUR 2,000 and 4,000 and above. Larger weddings may also benefit from a second photographer when several moments are happening at once.

This is the most popular choice for destination wedding couples in Mauritius, and for good reason. With the right photographer, full-day coverage transforms into something closer to visual storytelling.

Premium and Multi-Day Packages

Premium photography is not simply a more expensive version of the same service. At this level, couples are choosing a way of being photographed. Calm direction instead of stiff posing. Refined composition. Natural skin tones. A gallery that feels consistent from the first frame to the last.

For couples travelling from Europe or South Africa, a multi-day package is one of the best investments you can make. A pre-wedding shoot the day before your wedding gives you time with your photographer in a relaxed setting, so you arrive on your wedding day already comfortable in front of the lens. Multi-day destination packages are typically quoted on request, as each wedding is shaped differently.

Premium service should not feel loud. It should feel steady. You should feel that the photographer is paying attention without taking over the day.

A Note on Drone Photography

Aerial coverage can add a genuinely cinematic dimension to your Mauritius wedding. The turquoise lagoon, the resort grounds, the coastline seen from above. There are perspectives that simply cannot be captured any other way.

That said, there is an important step couples need to be aware of before booking drone services. Every resort and venue in Mauritius has its own privacy and aviation policy regarding drone use on their property. Before arranging aerial coverage, you will need to request permission directly from your resort or venue coordinator. Once you have received their approval, we can discuss adding drone photography as an optional service to your package.

Drone coverage is never included as standard. It is always an optional add-on, and always subject to resort approval first.

The Real Difference Is Not the Package Name

It is easy to compare hours, image counts, and delivery timelines. Those things are useful to know. But they do not tell you how a photographer will behave when the ceremony is running late, when the light is disappearing, or when you are tired and still want to look like yourselves.

A better question is: how will this photographer shape the experience of being photographed?

Look for signs of care that are harder to reduce to a list. Do the images feel consistent across a full wedding, not only in the best shots? Do the portraits feel guided but still natural? Does the photographer understand Mauritius light, resort timing, and logistics? Do they seem calm in the way they communicate?

A strong photographer does not only make beautiful images when the sunset is perfect. They know how to make quiet, honest, well-composed images throughout the whole day. That is where value begins to separate from price.

A Note for Destination Couples

Many couples planning a Mauritius wedding are doing so from another country. That changes what you need from a photographer.

You are not only choosing someone for the wedding day. You are choosing someone who can help you understand timing, light, location, and what is realistic before you even arrive on the island. The right photographer should reduce pressure, not add to it.

Your wedding photographs are the one thing from your day that will still be with you in thirty years. The flowers will fade. The cake will be eaten. The dress will go into a box. The photographs stay.
